Spanish holidays around Madrid

Madrid is the capital of beautiful Spain and one of its most important cities. Visiting Alcala de Henares

Alcala de Henares is situated just 30 kilometers away from Madrid. The town is renowned for its old university, which was founded in 1498. The Renaissance is the period that brought the bloom of the city, but while there, you also have to visit the city walls which date back to the 15th century, as well as the Bernarda Monastery, which dates back to the 17th century.

A trip to Aranjuez

Joaquin Rodrigo made Aranjuez famous with his ‘’Concierto de Aranjuez’’, but the true attraction of the small town is the amazing Palacio Real which was built during the 16th and the 17th century. When you visit make sure that you have the luxurious Throne Hall and the Porcelain Room on your list. Casita Del Labrador is another attraction of the town, a place that hosts beautiful collections of old clocks, as well as porcelain objects; the gardens here are of a rare beauty.

Beautiful days in Chinchon

50 kilometers away from Madrid the romantic Chinchon village patiently waits for its visitors. It is a medieval village where traditional bullfights and all sorts of festivals are still held in the Plaza Mayor. The 15th century ruins are another major attraction of the city, but tourists who visit Madrid love going to Chinchon because it is well renowned for its cuisine.

El Escorial

El Escorial is a fantastic monastery located just 50 kilometers away from Madrid, a monastery which impresses through its unusual austere style. Twenty-one years were necessary for two architects to build it, but the result is definitely a spectacular one.

The Caidos Valley

This valley’s name means in English “the one of the fallen”. It is the place where the great General Franco who decided to build a colossal monument in the memory of the event which took place in 1940: the Spanish civil war fell. It is also the place where he is buried, so it is of great historical interest for the Spaniards. Enjoy your holiday!
